Wheeling, Around

I am back in Cannon Beach. The trip away was so different than I expected, that I am thrown a bit. I walked into my apartment last night and immediately felt claustrophobic--imagine that after spending 7 1/2 hours in window seats on overbooked flights! However, the file boxes and items from Spirited overwhelmed me as I opened the door, and I will be renting a storage space tomorrow.
My week will be spent trying to finalize the plan for the New Thing. There is much to do, and I've identified "Phases" for the coming year. Soon, soon.
Meanwhile, last week, I did some re-visiting in Wheeling, WV and Bellaire, OH---my college campus (which became a university this weekend), beautiful Oglebay Park, Central Market and Coleman's Fish Market, Gulla's Lunch, Rock Hill---and took a few photos along the way. I've always been drawn to architecture. My old photos from college include. barns and farmhouses; later ones City Hall in Rochester, New York City brownstones and bridges; on this site several of you have mentioned the Rockaway beach cottages (and I've ID'ed a few more to photograph when I get back down there.)
These photos are "general" ones of buildings and places. I'll post some "details" next. I'm still trying to process this trip in my head. For the most part, seeing these familiar places was comforting, but also "horrifying"--as my aunt described her recent trip into Bellaire. These are old towns and old buildings that are now showing their history. The bridge in the first shot is the Bellaire Bridge spanning the Ohio River, and my mother used to walk over it, back and forth to her job in Wheeling. The brick Victorian house in the second shot was one of my favorite houses at Christmas because of the elegant single candles in each window. I remember Heil's Furniture, and the Chase Bank used to be Belmont Savings and Loan, where my grandparents, aunt, cousins and I all banked.
Days gone by. On to the next "Phase."
