A Pause...and Reflections

I am absorbed in a project right now. It's exciting--a new business--and is something I've thought about doing for many years. I am partnering with Sarah and Eric of the Surfcrest Market to open Spirited Wine & Art, a wine shop/tasting room and art gallery here in Cannon Beach. All of my visions and ideas have been dusted off, expanded, refined and scrawled onto pages of lists: to do, inventory, activities, artists, events, etc. But, even though they are safely captured on paper, they won't get out of my head. And this, I'm sure, is the way it will be over the next months and, probably, beyond. The point is, I've been busier than usual trying to prepare and, also, tying up ends from other things I do.
Today I "relaxed" a bit. The weather was a mix of sun and showers as a cold front came through this afternoon. This made for good clouds this evening, and I walked down to the beach. Aside from the wind, it was quiet, just three other people and three dogs. And wide open sand, wet from rain and run-off drains.
I realized that I needed to savor these few minutes, because life is about to change--mine and the town's. This time next week Spring Breakers will be all over the place, the end of winter and beginning of tourist season. The weather is getting warmer and less dramatic. I am taking opportunities to go out with friends and sleep in on rainy days before my new, more regimented schedule takes over. Part of me will miss the "freelance" life, but this is a chance that feels right. I reflect on what brought me to this point, and know that I'm not taking the final step on my path, but the next step.

Hi Glynis,
I have wondered why you haven't been posting as much lately. I check your site almost daily and love it when there is something new on it.
Good luck in your new venture! I hope someday to get back to Cannon Beach and when I do I will look forward to visiting your wine and art shop.
Thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to view Cannon Beach from afar!

Thank you, Dee. Weather has been a factor, too. It's been raining a LOT! GAV

Hi Glynnis,
I was just talking about you to someone I met from Portland. I'm so impressed with how you've made this new world for yourself.
And now, a gallery...are you looking for artwork from afar? If so, what kind? What's your vision? I could be interested...

Hi Barbara: Thank you for the comment. I am looking at various artists' work--mainly local--but not exclusively. I'd love to talk more with you...GV
