Estuary in the Fog
Friday, September 29, 06
Weather here is fascinating. In spite of the blue, clear skies overhead in Cannon Beach, Seaside, 10 miles north, is socked in with fog.
While waiting for prints for delivery to a client, I stopped at the North Coast Land Conservancy overlook on the estuary and Neawanna Creek. What you can't see is the ocean at the end of the creek, today completely obscured by mist/fog. Highway 101 behind me was full of the usual Friday traffic, but the creek and this plot of land were peaceful. I wish I could play the crickets singing in the garden along the fence.
Tomorrow is National Estuary Day, and the NCLC is hosting a morning of informational seminars and workshops about the estuary and its wildlife. If you are in the area, please stop by and support their efforts to preserve this delicate treasure.
