CA mussels

I'm fascinated by sea creatures--their colors, textures, lives. Clumps of mussels deposited on the beach by rough surf are always a draw. This one has been tossed about judging by the scraped and battered shells, though the individual mussels are still tenaciously hanging on and intertwined. As I was inspecting the nooks and crannies and angles, a sneaker wave caught it (and me) and pushed it down the beach a bit. Timeless day to day life.
